Money, and a whole lot of it, that's the aim! The insanely easy life. And its other face, the notorious life. Does life have to be wonderful? Maybe it does. What then? We may eat good food, we still die. No one can know how one's time on earth will turn out and everyone croaks at one time or another. What is the advantage of having lived a rich or a poor life? At the end of the day, the money we have don't last forever and neither do we.

Sitting on lotto

It has been a while since I last thought about lotto. I go to KetKai in Cagayan de Oro City and see people lining up to bet on the lottery. Very clearly lotto is not going to be leaving this city anytime soon. I remember when Manny Quisumbing ran for mayor of Cagayan de Oro city on the platform that he would allow the lotto to operate in the city. He lost the election but he was probably the smartest among the three candidates.

That was over 20 years ago and now the city is dotted with lotto outlets, some of which are not doing so brisk a business as the one in the mall.

Still, there is a little idea that keeps nagging me and I have the feeling that this will forever remain an idea never to be tested in the hot, boiling waters of reality. I am beginning to think that this is probably for the best and life will go on until everybody chokes from the pollution and the antibiotics being fed the chickens.

Lotto pool dreams

This looks like I might have to shelve the lotto pool system for a while. There are a number of things that beg for attention and I have not really been doing much organizing of the things that I needed to do for a while now and it is time to get things in order. I have observed that other people really do extraordinary things with their sites and they go to great lengths to promote them. I wonder how they get links to the really high pr sites. There must be something that they are doing to get these.

Anyway, here's Cagayan de Oro City with another one: Cagayan de Oro City. My Cebu City site has made pr1, surprise, surprise. Dumaguete is still in the boondocks as far as Google goes but Dumaguete has made some headway. Check out: Jai Alexander.

Another greed

What a waste of time and effort and emotions. Lotto dreams. I thought it would make a difference in my life and be the better for it. After all, I could make the system. I could do it in my sleep. Still, nothing came of it and the many months that I spent doing this and that came to nothing at all. This is very good for my soul but not for my pocket.

Lotto Pools - Smart?

Is it a smart thing to join a lotto pool? At first glance, it would appear that you get more numbers with which to try and ensnare the big prize but the fact of the matter is that the number of combinations that are possible are just too many and the odds are stacked against the bettor. I remember my first brush with network marketing when Manny Quisumbing asked me to write the software to control a super secret business that would take Cagayan de Oro City and even the Philippines by storm. He was living in New Jersey then and he said he would come home to Cagayan de Oro to launch his business. I was to be a stockholder and incorporator in this fabulous corporation he was so secretive about. That never happened but he did incorporate a Lotto Pooling Corporation called Smart Marketing Concepts.

Combining Lottery chances with network marketing, it seemed like a winner but not for me: I was out of his organization in less than three months. He went on to sell his pools but was not fortunate enough to have hit the jackpot and I know of no one who has made any money at all on the network marketing part. Lotto was not allowed to operate in Cagayan de Oro at that time.

Ching's World thinks that Lotto Pooling is a sound idea where one's chances are multiplied by the number of numbers in the pool. The Lotto Pool might show up on the pages of Ching's World.

One can never get away from numbers. It is not enough that there are billions of stars in a galaxy or that there are billions of galaxies in the universe man still needs to figure out more accurately the numbers.

Websites are also subject to numbers. More mundane than celestial numbers, large computers are used to keep track of the surfing habits of over six hundred million people who are online every day. Ching's World joins the fray and tries to bring in the numbers, not in celestial terms but more in primitive sticks and bones terms. There are many number systems in use at different times in human history. The system which suits CPU's is the binary system where only two digits are used: 0 and 1. Also popular are the Octal (base 8) and the hexadecimal (base 16) systems. Modern lotteries use computers to generate their winning numbers. This has become a favorite pastime of people and I must admit that I do indulge in this activity at one time or another. There are many systems being used by different people but very few have come up with a winning formula that assures them with a good chance of winning.

There are those who believe that lotteries are rigged but I doubt if there is any kind of proof of this that can be presented. I do know that most people believe in luck and that people do win the lottery. A popular technique is to pool resources together and if their pool wins the lottery then they share equally in the winnings.

There was one time when a very enterprising young man combined network marketing and the lottery. He sold subscriptions to pools of a hundred numbers each. If the pool won then each subscriber would share one (1) percent of the winnings. Using a 5 x 6 forced matrix he gave an added incentive of downline profits to induce members to recruit others. He sold twenty pools but unfortunately, luck was not with him and none of his pools won so people stopped joining. If he had won something I am sure his business would have survived longer than the one year that it operated.

Everything in life including the planets and days are given numerical representations or equivalents when dealing with numerology. Each day of the week also has a number associated with it which would have some specific meaning and these would influence or greatly the people whose numbers coincide with the numbers assigned to those those days. The science behind numerology is metaphysical rather than merely physical although empirical observations do find their way in the mix with meditative realizations and conclusions. As stated before, all numbers no matter how large can be reduced to the basic number which is also called "soul number" or "spirit number". This is done by adding each digit until only one digit remains. To take an example, the number 234 can be reduced to 9 by adding 2 and 3 and 4 together. If the number one arrives at is bigger than nine then the resulting digits are adden once more until only one digit or number remains. This is very crucial in determining which number has the greatest influence over everyone. The birth date of a person determines his ruling number hence, a person born on the 8th has 8 as his or her ruling number. Similarly, those born on the 17th, 26th also have 8 as their ruling number and all of them would share similar characteristics and moods and tendencies.

The modern computer principally uses the binary numerical system which only uses the digits 0 and 1. There are many other numerical systems in use in today's computers namely the Octal (base 8) and the Hexadecimal (base 16) systems. Human beings prefer the Decimal system (base 10) which owes its name from the Latin word decem which means ten. Many counting systems have been invented using sticks, bones, stones and the digits of fingers. Most successful of these before the advent of the modern digital calculator is the abacus which originated in China.

The Roman numeral system was widely popular owing to the power and influence of the Roman Empire but suffered a big handicap from having to use many numerals to represent ever increasingly large numbers. The greatest breakthrough in number systems came with the invention of the number zero which made possible the capability to represent large numbers using only a few digits. The Arabic number system when invented pushed great advances in mathematics and number theory. Google is the term used to represent a very, very large number.

Numbers are not only used in computers and mathematics but also in divination called numerology. Using Arabic numbers, each digit is assigned a quality or property which describes everything under the sun. A man's future and fortune can be determined and influenced with the proper application of numerological principles.

Being lucky

Winning the lottery can mean big, big changes in a person's life. It could signal the arrival of long-lost relatives and friends expecting him to share the wealth, or to listen to sure-fire investments that only needs "a little capital" to start.It's like he is suddenly the General to lead the War on Poverty and everyone has a bit of wisdom to help himget started on that noble campaign. A party or a celebration would be a good way to show everyone that he's a regular guy albeit a Fat Shot now, to enjoy their congratulations and felicitations on his good fortune and maybe give people a little nudge towards thinking that he is now Somebody whose opinions matter.

Absurdly, comics cipher seemed to work

Looking for numbers hidden in a comic strip was fun for a while. I made a number of good guesses which served to whet my appetite for this fascinating game. I scored a direct win once and a number of near-misses. All of these were from poring over the lines and content of the comics trying to ascertain if a piece of graphic was a clue or not. I discovered some very obvious clues involving numerical representations like three rungs in a ladder in one frame; another frame featured the same three rungs with one run detatched and hanging such that one could read a V. Taken with the other rungs it could stand for VI or the number six.

This sort of sleuthing for numbers was quite interesting in a mechanical sort of way especially since there seemed to be a correlation to the numbers that came out of the Special Llave and the numbers that could be discovered from the comics. As I said earlier I won by deciphering the clues presented. In one frame I discovered a V on the head of a cobra which I took to be the number 5; the next frame had a group of young cobras which I counted to be six and and the final frame contained a big father cobra. This I interpreted to mean the numbers 5, 6, 1. So, I bet on a number of combinations using those very digits. Needless to say, I felt like a tree full of owls the following day having scored my first win.

A fascination with numbers

When I was younger I liked to invent new ways of writing which no one could understand such as, inventing a new alphabet with different symbols. I would practice on and on writing and reading stuff, never mind that no one was going to read it anyway. Numbers were not really a big part of this experimental stage of my life. The first time I really thought of numbers as things which could be worth thinking about was when I was introduced to the Special Llave of the Jai Alai which is a pelota game originating in the Basque region of Spain. The players are called pelotaris and they are wonderful to watch when they do almost acrobatic stunts when chasing after the ball and returning it after catching it in his Cesta which is like a basket made from wicker and strapped to his arm. They would climb the walls of the court or drop to the floor and do all kinds of seemingly dancelike moves in catching the ball and bouncing it off the front wall of the Cancha.

The special llave consists of three numbers representing the numbers worn by the winner of the game, the second placer and the third placer. This would constitute a winning combination. People were crazy about Jai Alai and betting on the numbers. My first introduction into this seemingly arcane business was through the comics section of the daily newspapers. Ostensibly, coded messages would be placed in any of the comics and one has to find this message and decipher it which fell right into my alley so to speak. Now please understand it had been a while since I immersed myself in my little world of ciphers and secret codes so, you might say I was a little rusty but, I plunged right into it with great gusto.

Numbers have always fascinated me but not in the academic way. New Math was nice and presented numbers in a playful way. However, my interest in numbers was purely mystical or maybe I should say unscientific bordering on the superstitious. The number seven was lucky but not the number thirteen you know, that kind of mumbo-jumbo. Come to think of it that was the extent of my fascination with numbers until I met a Chinese numerologist who taught me that all numbers no matter how big can always be reduced to their basic digit. The basic digits are 1 through 9. 10 can be reduced to 1 by adding 1 and 0 thereby producing the sum 1. 29 has it's root or basic number 2 which is derived from adding 2 and 9 producing 11 and further adding 1 and 1 which comes to 2.

He said that one can get one's personal number by adding the numbers that represent one's birthday. The number you arrive at is your personal number which guides your life which might be akin to a roadmap to a personal utopia. Furthermore, he explained that whatever that number is you can keep adding to it everyday and come up with your life cycle. He said that every day in one's life has a number associated with it and the number for the current day can be arrived at by subtracting the one's birth date from the current date and to reduce that to the basic digit. Whatever number you come up with tells you what kind of day you will have like, you can have lucky days and unlucky days. If the number is 9 then it is good to ask God for something because he would not refuse anything asked on that day. This could be considered Numerological Bio-Chart much like Biorhythm Charts.
